Technical Specifications
THE BUILD
A masterstroke of material innovation, this Speedmaster forgoes traditional steel for a 44.25mm case crafted from Omega’s exclusive Ceragold™—a fusion of black ceramic and 18K yellow gold that balances scratch resistance with luxurious warmth. The case features the Speedmaster’s iconic symmetrical design, with a screw-down crown and chronograph pushers for enhanced water resistance. The matte black ceramic finish exudes a stealthy, futuristic vibe, while the polished yellow gold accents on the bezel and pushers add a touch of opulence that elevates it from a tool watch to a high-end collector’s piece.
THE FACE
True to its “Dark Side of the Moon” namesake, the dial is carved from a single block of black ceramic, with a matte finish that absorbs light for a striking, monochromatic look. The hour markers and hands are coated in Omega’s high-grade Super-LumiNova and framed with 18K yellow gold, glowing with a vivid green hue in low light for optimal readability. The chronograph counters are subtly recessed into the dial, with yellow gold hands that contrast sharply against the black background—paying homage to the Speedmaster’s racing roots while embracing a modern, minimalist aesthetic.
THE BEZEL
The unidirectional bezel is crafted from the same Ceragold™ blend as the case, with a tachymètre scale engraved directly into the ceramic and filled with yellow gold for a crisp, durable finish. Unlike standard steel bezels, this ceramic iteration is virtually scratch-proof, ensuring the tachymètre scale remains legible for decades. The bezel’s 12 o’clock position features a yellow gold dot— a subtle nod to the Speedmaster’s lunar legacy, evoking the glow of the moon against the dark night sky.
REFINEMENT
Beneath the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal caseback lies a detailed engraving of the moon’s surface, complete with craters and lunar maria that mirror the terrain the Apollo astronauts explored. The movement’s rotor is adorned with the Omega logo and the words “First Watch on the Moon”, a proud tribute to the Speedmaster’s historic role in space exploration. The limited-edition serial number is etched alongside the engraving, marking each piece as a unique addition to the Speedmaster legacy.
